Windows 10 Installation

1 A Windows 10 installation doesn't have to be complicated if you rely on the essential topics.

2 Download Win 10 with Windows Media Creation Tool Download Win10-ISO

3 Install Win 10, enter license key or use HWID

4 Set up Windows Defender: Hourly update, weekly search (I used to have my own virus protection program such as Avira used and set it up - but this is currently no longer necessary because Windows Defender now has sufficient protection)

5 Run Win10 updates and set it to automatic

6 Install Office with CR2 and activate it

7 Install Chrome - log in with GMail
Chrome Addons (AddBlock, FVD Speeddial,...)

8 Set up mail (GMX-WebMail, Magenta-WebMail, GMail, etc.)
Import contacts if necessary (I recommend using a WebMail client and not a installed mail client such as Outlook or Thunderbird)

9 Install "must have" programs (XnView, VLC, WinAmp, PDF-XChange, 7Zip) Set standard programs in Windows (start as admin) (for XnView under Tools / Settings / Shortcuts / Windows File links) Then restart standard apps and select program

10 Set up GDriveBackup & Sync including Google Photos

11 Set up TeamViewer installation for remote maintenance only

12 Startup cleanup and uninstall - remove all links in the start folder + desktop

13 Set Explorer settings to detail display

14 Check LAN functionality / set up WLAN
